Welcome to the ESF Toriyama Tribute Tournament 2024!

Many of us had a chance to experience Earth’s Special Forces (ESF) game at least once in our lives. Nowadays, this game is known for having a fast, unique and skill-based mechanics; however, majority of the players started their ESF journey due to its association with Dragon Ball series, created by legendary Akira Toriyama, who has recently passed away. And while we cannot collect all dragon balls to call him back, we can celebrate his life and work in our own way.

This is why we are inviting you to join ESF v1.2.3 Toriyama Tribute Tournament, where you will have a chance to win variety of prizes, compete under improved ruleset, meet elite players and, most importantly, pay a tribute to the legendary artist known as Akira Toriyama!

Preliminary Tournament Ladder

Tournament Rules

The general rules:

  • Only Goku & Vegeta characters are allowed during the official match

  • Only basic melee combat is allowed (no advanced melee or beams)

  • Max 3x hits on the ground, but infinite roof and wall hits are allowed

  • Frags can be gained not only by killing your opponents, but also by executing ring outs

  • A player that reach 10 deaths first – lose. Official tournament matches will have Bo3 (Best of Three) rule (potential 3 matches, up to 10 deaths each)

  • Players are entitled to 10min breaks after each match

  • Coaching/advising by spectators can be done only between the matches, but non-coaching conversations are allowed (penalty: kick until the match is over)

  • Players shall not expect for action to stop in the middle of the match (“sec” or random texting will not automatically stop the match)

  • Leaving a match before it’s finished is considered as a loss (unless there’s a serious reason)

  • Transformations or transformation attempts are NOT allowed

  • Artificial stoppage of the roll (“B”) after being hit is forbidden (50HP slap penalty for each stop)

  • Both players are punished for stalling the match (warning after 20 seconds, then 10HP slap after additional 10 seconds, until action is taken)

  • Entering gated area of the map during the match is treated as a ring out (1x death per entry)

  • Players have an option of giving up at any given time

Budokai Referee Rules:

  • Referee must be present during all (possible) best of 3 matches
  • Referee must record full duel and provide it to the tournament organizers afterwards
  • Referee must enforce Budokai rules (stalling/coaching/entering gated area penalties etc.)

Alternative rules by agreement:
*Some or all Duel Rules can be neglected if both players desire to do so in agreement with each other. For example, SSJ would be allowed. However, if both players cannot come to an agreement, then all players must be playing by the original duel rules.

Additional info:

  • Tournament leaders holds the right to disqualify you for being late or not showing up at all
  • Rules may be changed, removed or added at any time. But you will be notified about it if that happens
